Fish thala curry...

Wondering what is this 'thala curry'?

The head  is the most nutritious and protein rich part of a fish..But most of us remove the head while cleaning fish.. you can clean the head of the fish and make this delicious curry.. And once u taste it u will never thow away the head while cleaning fish.

You need:
1.Head of fish(Any fish,thoroughly cleaned,u can keep the eyes as such but I remove the eyes from it as I dont like it personally)
2.Turmeric powder(1/2 tsp)
3.Chilly powder(2tsp)
4.Coriander powder(3tsp)
5.Methi powder(uluva podi) (1/2tsp)
6.salt to taste
7.oil
8.Onion(2nos big)
9.Tomato(2nos medium)
10.Green chilly(2nos)
11.Ginger garlic(3tsp crushed) NB:u can use ginger garlic paste but I recommend u to use fresh ginger and garlic crushed for better taste.
12.coconut milk(1 cup)
13.Kudampuli(2nos) soaked in hot water for an hour
For seasoning:
14.oil(2tsp) preferably coconut oil
15.Mustard seeds(a pinch)
16.Red chilly(3nos)
17.Curry leaves
18.Small onion(a hand full cut to small pieces)

Lets start:

1.Marinate the head of fish with a little turmeric powder and salt.Keep it for 30min.After 30min heat 2tsp oil in a kadai and shallow fry the fish head for 2min keep it aside.
2.In the same oil,add ginger garlic,green chilly and onion.Saute it till the onion turns translucent.
3.Add salt,turmeric powder,chilly powder and coriander powder.saute it till the raw taste vanishes.. :)
4.Add tomatoes and kudampuli along with the water it was soaked. Close the kadai with a lid and let it cook for 5min.
5.Now add the fried fish head to it,close the.lid and let it boil for another 5min.
6.Open the lid and add methi powder(uluva podi) to it. Cook it for 1min.
7.Add the coconut milk,stir well and switch of the stove.
8.Take another pan,add oil,splutter the mustard seeds,add onion let it turn goldern brown,now add curry leaves and red chilly... season the curry with this.
9.mmmm Delicious..... serve hot with rice.
